Welcome to Jersey

Jersey has a lot to offer. We have our own money, we make our own laws,  and we are not part of the European Union.

Because of its unusual links with Britian, it's a possession of the Crown yet only 15 miles from the French coast, the island exhibits reminders of its turbulent history everywhere.

Jersey was the last of the Channel Islands to be formed. Due to this, and its mild Gulf Stream climate, it is home to many species of flora and fauna that are unique to the island.

Jersey is vibrant and cosmopolitan, the population is a mixture of races and cultures that has evolved over time. Today, you're as likely to meet the ancestor of a Hugeneot refugee, as you are to meet the great-grand daughter of a Breton farm worker who came here in the Sixties.

Great for Cycling

Though Jersey has possibly the greatest per capita car population in the world, the good news is that while some people do literally have a dozen cars - they can only drive one at a time! Furthermore the small lanes that criss-cross the island are definitely not the fastest way to get about, so there isn't much traffic on them.

Jersey has just under 50 miles of Green Lanes, these are quiet, scenic speed restricted lanes that will allow you to really see, smell and hear your environment. They were created at the beginning of the 1990s so that cyclists, walkers and horse riders could enjoy the countryside without the threat of speeding motorists. They are unique to Jersey, and when put together with the island's comprehensively sign-posted 96 mile Cycle Network, it means that everywhere is easily accessable by bike.
